DeskProto V3.1To: Tagiya, Inc, Japan
Dear DeskProto user,
About six months after the release of DeskProto V 3.0, we have just released V 3.1 This is a bugfix version, that includes some nice new functions as well: see this list below.
All current V 3.0 users have been emailed about a free upgrade This applies to the full version only: almost no changes in DeskProto Lite. Lite users can just download a fresh V 3.1 trial version and unlock it with the previously supplied registration code.
In case you should be entitled to a free upgrade an have not been emailed about this: please email me, mentioning the serial number of your DeskProto (must be a version 3.0)
Best Regards,
Lex Lennings email info@deskproto.com
------------------------------------------------------------------------ Detailed list of changes in DeskProto V 3.1 (Aug 2002) compared to DeskProto V 3.0 (Feb 2002). ------------------------------------------------------------------------
New buttons (and button sequence changed a bit): - calculate toolpaths - write NC program file Same result as these commands in the Create menu. These prove to be very handy when working with DeskProto.
Rotation axis stuff: - A values over 360 degrees now are possible. For climb or conventional milling in V 3.0, after every rotation the model had to rotate back the full 360 degrees before starting the next toolpath. For many machines this is needed as they cannot keep rotating in one direction. However, some machines can, which now can be selected in the machine definition. - Bug when using segments of less than 360 degrees has been corrected.
The two sided Wizard now also is possible with a fixed block size (for instance to use prefabricated wax blocks for jewellers). For the floating block size now the user can set the thickness of the frame to be added (preferences).
Much debugging for translated versions.
Preferences: - the color for toolpath at reduced feedrate is now adjustable - a new page "Wizard": the block settings for the two sided wizard.
The translation options (part parameters) have been completely changed. Many more preset options (like Z=0 at bottom of the part) and easier to use.
In feedrate for high chip loads the calculation of intermediate feedrates has been changed (see Help page), as here the feedrate was insufficiently reduced.
New dongle drivers. The drivers used in DeskProto V 3.0 appeared to show problems on fast new PC's (2 GHz and faster).
Precision values (distance between toolpaths and stepsize along toolpath) now may be larger: d/1 is now also possible (previously d/3 was the largest value.
Bug when using subsegments: even when the Borders were set to "cutter stays within segment", the geometry could in some cases be damaged.
Many new and improved machine/postprocessor definitions.
ZFree level is set as a distance above the subsegment max Z. Now changed that the first and the last point of each toolpath is located at ZFree above to top of the part segment, to avoid collisions when travelling in a straight line to that point from anywhere.
Use the scroll mouse for zooming.
Now a negative skin thickness is allowed, permitting to machine an undersized model. This is useful for EDM machining, and for applying plaster on a undersized foam model to later be machined on size.
Some more small bugs have been corrected.
